The radio station, which launched as part of Denver Open Media plays local content exclusively, primarily focused on music from the larger Denver-Metro Region scene. Programming for the radio station is automated based on community through votes on the DOM website. [6] History of Open Media Foundation [ edit] In 2001, Tony Shawcross, Executive Director of the Open Media Foundation, co-founded a non-commercial website called [denverevolution] in order to promote independent arts and non-commercial community events overlooked by the local media. [7] In 2003, members of the denverevolution collective began producing video as the [denverevolution] production group, borrowing gear from friends at KBDI (PBS 12), Free Speech TV, and Denver Community Television. FSTV provided them with their first editing station in an office donated by Little Voice Productions'. In 2004 OMF significantly expanded their media and technology training services, and formed a board, incorporating as "the [denverevolution] production group. "

The problem of using media to manipulate the masses is a complex one, but at Open Media, we believe the solution to bad speech is *more speech*, not censorship. Over the past 15 years, we've built TV stations and Radio Stations and launched dozens of websites and communications tools. If someone had used one of these free-speech conduits to foment something like what happened last week, we honestly wouldn't know how to solve it. We don't believe in censoring anyone ever, but... in the situation we're in, there is no simple solution. We are an unhealthy society and our systems for communicating (media) and making collective action/decisions (government) have, for the most part, become nothing more than tools to make the rich richer. We can't use these broken tools designed for one purpose (wealth concentration) to accomplish another purpose (healing and informing). Frankly, America lacks the tools today to right the ship. Years ago, we realized Open Media must grow beyond simply being a free-speech outlet to address these ills.
